Welcome to our church web site!

Greetings in the Name of our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  Thank you for taking a few moments of your time to visit our web site

We would like to introduce ourselves as a new congregation  located in the community of Glen Ellyn.  We associate ourselves with the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS), the English District, and our pastor is a rostered member of the LCMS.

If you are seeking a Christian family, we invite you to attend one of our worship services or speak to our pastor or one of our members for further information.

May the Lord bless this mission effort, and the work that we do in Glen Ellyn.  May He also bless you in your daily lives.

What do we believe?

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God.  It is the only true testimony that God has given us about Himself, and that it is the only source upon which we can base our beliefs and practices.

We believe in, and worship, the Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as the only true God.  The Father created all that exists; Jesus Christ became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit creates faith through God's Word and Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, but only ONE God.

We believe that God’s forgiveness comes to us through the gifts of God’s Holy Word and the Holy Blessed Sacraments – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which were instituted by Jesus Christ Himself.

We believe that we are saved by God’s grace, his undeserved love for us.  We aren’t saved by anything that we have done.  God loves the people of the world and sent Jesus, His Son, to  suffer and die for your sins and for all people of all time. Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for ALL. Therefore, those who hear this Good News and believe it will have eternal.

Finally, we believe that our salvation comes to us through the simple faith given to us by the Holy Spirit which causes us to hold fast to Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

How long is the worship service and what is it like?

The worship service typically lasts 60 minutes.  It is a worship service where we follow a traditional liturgy and sing hymns which are accompanied by the organ.  These hymns and the liturgy are taken from the Lutheran Service Book, a 2007 Hymnal publication by the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod.  The pastor will also give a message.  Hopefully, you'll leave uplifted, challenged and ready to experience the life God offers you through Jesus Christ.

What about my children?

We encourage you to bring your children along to worship with you.  Jesus loved little children and wants to see them in worship with their parents.   At the present time we do not have a Sunday school for your children, but we hope to start one in the future.

Learning about the Bible

Did you want to know about what the Bible actually says about your life? What about all those books that are out there? Are they really based on the Bible? What does the Bible say about angels? Call us if you have these or other questions.

Do you have Pastoral Care?

We at Good Shepherd are very conscious about the needs of our members especially in times of trouble and hardship.  Our pastor comes to visit in the hospital or at home when requested, besides being in regular contact with our members and friends, in order to offer support and encouragement.

How do I become a member?

If you would be interested in becoming a member, you are always welcome to speak with the pastor.
